How is this different from STL Repair?
STL Repair fixes mesh defects while keeping the original shape and color objects. Make Mesh Printable rebuilds the surface when that repair is not enough. Rebuilding can close intended openings, merge touching parts, and change fine details.
Should I choose Voxelize or Wrapping?
Voxelize builds a solid grid shell and smooths it: softer surfaces, less fine detail. Wrapping follows the surface more closely, but may leave unwanted webbing across gaps. Try Voxelize first, then compare Wrapping if details matter more.
How long does rebuilding take?
The suggested settings scale with model size and surface complexity, targeting one to two minutes. Actual time depends on your model and device. Smaller voxels or alpha values need more memory. A run stops after 5 minutes and can be cancelled at any time.
Can this make an AI model printable?
It can rebuild broken Meshy, Tripo, and other AI-generated STL, OBJ, 3MF, or GLB meshes into closed surfaces. A closed surface still needs a slicer check for thin walls, supports, scale, and intended openings.
Are files uploaded? Can I keep colors?
Your model stays in your browser for importing, rebuilding, previewing, and STL creation. STL stores geometry only, so color and texture are removed. Signing in and recording an export use the usual Obloid account service.
How many free exports do I get?
Free accounts get 3 exports for Make Mesh Printable. Re-downloading the current unlocked result is free. Plus and Pro include unlimited exports.
What runs under the hood?
Voxelize uses a pitch-based grid, small-gap closing, exterior filling, a Manifold surface, and Laplacian smoothing. Wrapping uses CGAL Alpha Wrap with an offset of 8% of the alpha size. Both run locally in a browser worker. Engine source and licenses.
