STL is the default for text-to-print searches. 3MF carries the preview filament color.

Printing notes

  • The letters export lying flat on the bed, which is the right way to print them: the biggest face goes down, nothing overhangs, and no supports are needed.
  • Thin strokes and skinny fonts grip the bed better with a brim. Bold display fonts usually need nothing.
  • Add a connecting base if you plan to stand the word upright on a shelf; freestanding letters glued individually are fiddly to align.
  • For signs that live outdoors, print in PETG or ASA. PLA fades and warps in direct sun over a season.
