Printing notes
- Print the tag flat on the bed, text facing up — no supports needed. 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers keep small lettering crisp.
- Attach it with a standard split ring. The default 5 mm hole fits common 20 to 30 mm rings; size it up for carabiner clips.
- For an outdoor pet tag, print in PETG — it handles rain, sun, and chewing far better than PLA. Add a couple of extra walls around the hole.
- Engraved text wears better on collars and pockets because it sits below the surface. Raised text is the showier choice for two-color prints.
- The Bambu / Orca 3MF assigns the tag and raised text to separate filaments. With an AMS it just works; without one, add a filament swap where the text starts.
