Why stacked bands, not side-by-side colors
- One filament per layer. Slot 1 prints the whole base. Slot 2 prints a band on top of it everywhere slot 2, 3, or 4 should show. Slot 3 covers slot 3 and 4 areas, and so on. No layer mixes filaments, so an AMS purges only 3 times for the entire bookmark instead of on every layer.
- Single extruder works too. Download the STL, then add a filament change in your slicer at each start height listed above (0.2 mm layers). The printer pauses, you swap the spool, and the next band prints in the new color.
- Slot order is stack order. Higher slots become raised relief, lower slots sit in the valleys. Use the arrows to move a color up or down; the most common color makes the cheapest base.
- Opaque filament. Bands of 0.4 mm (two layers) cover the color below with normal PLA. Light or translucent filament over dark may need 0.6 mm. Matte prints read cleanest.
- The Bambu / Orca 3MF loads as one object with one part per slot, each already assigned to
its AMS slot. Every export also includes a
