How to turn a photo into a printable bookmark
1 Open Photo Bookmark, not an STL search
Open Obloid's Photo Bookmark tool. A downloaded bookmark can't be your picture. The generator runs in the browser. The photo does not upload to a server.
2 Drop the image
Click the photo tile and pick a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF. Bold posters, logos, and book covers hold up. Busy photos flatten into blobs — that is the look, so crop next.
3 Crop tight on the subject
The crop dialog is Crop to bookmark. Drag, zoom, then Use crop. Re-crop is there if you miss. Tight on the face, the dog, or the cover. Empty background wastes filament bands.
4 Pick 1 to 4 filament colors
Open Colors. Filament slots is 1 to 4. Leave Palette on Pick from photo so the tool splits the image into regions, then recolor each slot to match the spools you actually have. Slot 1 is the base plate. Higher slots become the raised relief. Use the arrows if a common color should print as the cheap base.
5 Set size and a tassel hole
Open Shape & stack. Width and Height start at 50 × 160 mm. Tassel hole starts at 5 mm; drag it to None if you do not want one. Band height starts at 0.4 mm — two 0.2 mm layers, enough to hide the color underneath with most PLA. Go thicker if a light color sits on a dark one.
6 Export Bambu / Orca 3MF
Default download is Bambu / Orca 3MF (AMS slots assigned). Open it in Studio or Orca, repair non-manifold edges if the slicer asks, assign each slot to your spools, then print. No supports. You can feel the photo on the surface. Free accounts get three bookmark downloads; re-downloading the same design in another format is free. Generic 3MF is there for Prusa and Cura. ZIP of STLs or a single STL if you pause-and-swap on one extruder.

Do I need an AMS to print a photo bookmark?
No. The Bambu / Orca 3MF is the easy AMS path — one part per color, already on a slot. A single-extruder printer can pause-and-swap at the start heights the tool lists. Download the STL or the ZIP of STLs plus print-plan.txt for that.
Why not just download a bookmark STL?
A download can't be your kid, your dog, or that trip. This stacks your photo into 1 to 4 filament bands so the print is that picture, not a random STL from a search.
Why does a busy photo look like blobs?
The tool reduces the image to 1–4 solid colors, one per height band. That is how an AMS can swap at heights instead of painting every layer. Crop tight. Raise Boldness if you want bigger regions. Drop Filament slots if a simple logo only needs two colors.
Can I snap the bookmark to filament I already own?
Yes. Snap to my colors maps every pixel to the nearest slot hex you picked, so the print matches the AMS loadout. That mode is Plus and Pro. Pick from photo is free — split the photo, then recolor each band to your spools.
How many free bookmark downloads do I get?
